New Automated Trash Collection Update From Waste Connections

With automated collection, a mechanical arm on the truck lifts and empties your cart. This is safer for our team and allows us to serve you more consistently. To make sure your trash is picked up without interruption, please review the guidelines below.

What We Need from the Customer

1. Bag all trash and place it inside the cart

  • All trash must be bagged – Drivers will continue to service toters and 3-5 bags.
  • The Trash left outside the cart, or beside the cart must be bagged and driver will service up to 5 bags of extras.

2. Keep at least 3 – 5 feet of clearance around the cart

  • Position your cart so there is at least 3 – 5 feet of space on all sides, free of any obstructions.
  • Common obstructions to avoid: mailboxes, parked cars, buildings, fences, poles, low tree branches, and other carts.
  • This clearance gives the automated arm room to safely grab, lift, and empty your cart.

3. Position the cart correctly

  • Place the cart at the curb with the wheels and handle facing away from the street (toward your home).
  • Have your cart out by 7 AM on your service day.

Why This Matters

Following these simple steps ensures:

Reliable pickup — Insuring all trash is bagged will insure safety for drivers as well as make it more efficient reloading the can.

Safety — proper clearance prevents damage to your property and our equipment.

Efficiency — automated collection keeps your service running smoothly and on schedule.
